What we liked:
Holidays-Uncovered is perfect for getting the lowdown on hotels in any of the traditional 'Brits abroad' holiday destinations. You'll find 50,000 reviews here, most of them for popular resorts in areas such as southern Spain, Greece, Turkey and Florida.

The key to the site's success is that it makes a point of ensuring the reviews are well-written and full of useful information. You won't find any one-sentence outbursts here - most people offer balanced and informative opinions rather than simply moaning about how the English breakfast in the hotel wasn't up to scratch. There are also some nice touches, such as banning reviews written entirely in capitals.

The simplest way to get around is to choose your resort from the drop-down list at the top of the page, then open a Find box by hitting the Ctrl+F keys. Type in the name of the hotel you're researching and you'll go straight to any reviews held on it. Most of the popular hotels have at least 10 different verdicts.

What we didn't like:
That bright orange background! Get your sunglasses out before using this site. A proper search facility would also be helpful.
