TaxiRoute

TaxiRoute is a simple but useful service that tells you roughly how much your fare should cost before you book the cab. Just enter the address, place or postcode that you're travelling to and from, and specify which local authority the trip is starting from. TaxiRoute will then calculate the maximum amount that can legally be charged, as well as the journey distance and estimated time. The presentation is rather dry and having to select a council name from a long list is a bit of a hassle but the site is free to use and doesn't require registration.
