Slide's online slideshow creator is free, fast and easy to use.
What we liked:
Slide has a clean and friendly interface with a large, prominent button labelled ‘Make a Slideshow', which instantly provides you with everything you need to get started.
You can add photos from social networks, such as MySpace, Bebo and Facebook, grab images from Flickr and upload snapshots from your hard disk. The pictures appear along the bottom of your screen, which makes them easy to delete and reorder. You can also add and alter captions, changing their size, colour and background.
Slide offers oodles of options for customising your slideshow. You can showcase your photos in an array of funky presentations, for example a Batman-style spinning newspaper or a sprinkling of love hearts. Each design loads extremely quickly and you can use Slide's themes to impose animations over the top of your slides. Adding music to your creation is simple, with plenty of tracks to choose from and the ability to source videos from YouTube.
Once you've finished and saved your slideshow, you can embed it on a social network and blog and share the link via email. And, if you have any problems, you can ask for help in the friendly forums.
How it can be improved:
It's frustrating that you can't easily add music from your own collection, other than by uploading it to YouTube first. Also, there are no community tools to let members view and comment on each others' slideshows.
Verdict
Slide is a brilliant web app that’s simple and speedy to use and produces impressive-looking slideshows with interesting effects. It makes sharing your photos straightforward and fun.
