Clubbz, an online resource that lets you quickly locate clubs and societies in your area so you can meet up with like-minded people, encapsulates this perfectly. We were surprised by how many different clubs are catered for; you can find everything from Morris dancing and rugby to singing and board games. Found this website only recently. Listed our club on it and is definitely worth a look if you run a club or group.
Also worth a look if looking to join one or get involved in something local.
There is definitely a need for a website like this - good luck to them
