Yessy Art Gallery

Yessy's deliberately clutter-free approach makes it easy for potential buyers to find your work.

What we liked: Sign up for the free trial and you can explore the galleries and upload your artistic creations into one of 12 busy sections. All new additions go straight to the top of their category, so you're guaranteed plenty of views right from the off.

There's no limit to how much you can add, and many artists have hundreds of pieces available for sale and for viewing. It's a good idea to follow suit, as each piece you upload links straight through to the rest of your portfolio. The more you add, the better your exposure on the site.

Another big bonus is the absence of commission fees. You get to set your own price for your work, and once it sells you keeep all the proceeds. All you need to arrange is the safe delivery of your art.

How it could be improved:
The site isn't completely free. After your 14-day trial, you have to shell out for a $59 (about £30) annual membership. That's fair enough, but your account is barred from making sales until you pay this money - meaning you can't check beforehand whether your art will actually sell.
