Doctor Green Fingers

Doctor Greenfingers is a fantastic name for a garden tips website, and we'd have been very upset if the site hadn't been good enough to qualify for a Web User award. Happily, its infectious enthusiasm ('Gardening Is Sensual, Fun and Trendy!') earns it third place on the leader board. What we liked: Not since Eighties starlet Kim Wilde took up her secateurs has gardening looked so saucy. Photos of comedy nurses adorn the sections and there's a lovely big photo of Charlie Dimmock on the homepage, along with some pictures of lilies, if that's more your scene. Medically-inspired sections include the Accident & Emergency Department for expert queries and the Record Department for did-you-know ephemera ('studies have shown that spending an hour a day in the garden stimulates the hormones and does wonders for your sex life'). The Family Planning section and Maternity Ward are useful for new gardeners but the most informative section is Operating Theatre, where we found gardening calendars and clear, catchy and well-illustrated advice on many elements of indoor and outdoor plant care. What we didn't like: The Doctor has a long way to go to match the content-count of our Silver and Gold winners, and experienced gardeners will find it too basic. Some sections, like Weed Ward, are currently undernourished but look set to grow like leylandii as the site expands.
