Where the Wild Things Are video - new clips online

One of the most eagerly awaited films of the year is just two months away - Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are opens in the UK on Friday 11 December.
Five new clips have just been posted online, and we like what we see. It looks like it'll be a wonderful adaptation of Maurice Sendak's fantastic children's book.
Along with Robert Zemeckis' animated A Christmas Carol, (out in November, starring Jim Carrey), that's your Christmas cinema trips sorted.

If Iron Man 2 flops at the box office, it won't be because it lacks an all-star cast.
Joining Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Samuel L Jackson are Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard as War Machine.
You can watch Cheadle talking about playing the role online at ETonline.com - see link below. The site has also interviewed Paltrow about her role.
You can register for Iron Man 2 updates at the official site - you'll be first to hear of any new trailers. You'll have to settle for these Iron Man 2 photos for the time being. The film is scheduled to hit UK cinemas in May, 2010.

There are two ways you can enjoy some quality horror entertainment this evening - either recoil at the frocks on Strictly Come Dancing or watch a free online streaming of Vinyan, a new chiller starring Rufus Sewell and Emmanuelle Béart, on LoveFilm.
The pair play a grieving couple who lost their son in the 2004 southeast Asia tsunami. Or did they? Beart thinks she spots him in a documentary about orphans in Burma, and treks deep into the jungle with her husband to find him.
That's when it all starts getting scary and rather nasty.
The LoveFilm streaming, which starts at 7pm, comes a week before the film hits UK cinemas.
After the streaming viewers will be able to watch and submit questions to a live Q&A session with Sewell and director Fabrice Du Welz.
If you miss tonight's streaming, Vinyan will be available through LoveFilm on DVD from 5 October and on pay-per-view streaming from 15 October.

Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol? Yeah, that might work. He's already starred as one Christmas-hating icon - the Grinch - so he's got good "bah humbug" pedigree.
Unfortunately, though, we won't see any of Carrey's rubber-faced magic because the film's a Walt Disney 3D animation, also starring the voices of Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins and Michael J Fox.
It's directed by Robert Zemeckis, who has previous mega-hits such as Forrest Gump, Back to the Future and The Polar Express to his name. But I can't help imagining how more enjoyably ghoulish and weird it would be as a dark stop-motion nightmare in the twisted hands of Tim Burton.
Look at the brand new trailer, for example. Do the ghosts really look scary? Not very. More like Scooby Doo meets Charles Dickens. The film opens in the UK on 6 November.

500 Days of Summer - watch video clips and interviews

Out in UK cinemas now, 500 Days of Summer is a rare beast - a boy-meets-girl romantic comedy that actually belongs in the real, messy world of human emotions. It's already got fantastic reviews in the States, where it's been hailed as a refreshingly honest and realistic take on modern relationships.
The Summer of the film title is Summer Finn, played by Zooey Deschanel, who meets Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) at work. He's romantic. She's cynical. But they get on, smooch a little, and spend 500 days riding the rollercoaster of love.
The film definitely has an indie, melancholy heart - Gordon-Levitt wears a Joy Division t-shirt in the film, and the soundtrack contains two songs by The Smiths, so you can see what tone it's hitting. It will appeal to anyone who can see the romance in heartache.
To see if that means you, head to the brilliant Fox Searchlight site, which often has excellent behind-the-scenes videos of its new films.
On its official 500 Days of Summer page there are loads of interviews with director Marc Webb and both stars, and a look at the shooting of the film in Los Angeles.
