Marks & Spencer - watch Christmas TV advert

I'm not a huge fan of Christmas, but even my Scrooge heart melted watching the new Marks & Spencer Christmas advert, which is so lavish and cosy that it makes me want to snuggle up to some reindeers while whistling Ding Dong Merrily on High.

It's packed with celebrities telling us that Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without. . .lots of lovely things.

There's Stephen Fry, Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley, James Nesbitt, Myleene Klass, Wallace & Gromit, Twiggy and Philip Glenister.

The advert gets its first TV showing tonight during the Coronation Street break, but you can watch it online already - just click the link below.

If it doesn't get you excited about presents, mince pies, mistletoe and tinsel, then I'm a Christmas elf.

It's 125 years since Michael Marks opened his Penny Bazaar, which grew into the high-street giant that is Marks & Spencer.

To celebrate, M&S is offering one-penny delivery on all goods between 11 and 14 November. Standard delivery is £3.50, so that's a big saving. I might buy my granny a woolly jumper.

Personally, I want an Aleksandr Orlov meerkat toy. Please Santa, I've been a good boy.

ITN's YouTube Christmas Channel - watch now

ITN Christmas Channel

Apologies if you think it's too early to start thinking about Christmas, but ITN has launched its new Christmas Channel on YouTube.

It contains over 200 pieces of content, including Christmassy cartoons and interviews with celebrities, such as Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis and Peter Andre, who will be telling us what the festive season means to them.

I have to admit, that's a relief. The meaning of Xmas had been lost on me, but now that Peter Andre is here to confirm what it's all about, I can merrily start making plans.

Actually, that's a lie. It was to my horror yesterday, while I was enjoying my Sunday paper in Costa Coffee, to hear Christmas music over the speakers. I looked at the date on my newspaper - 15 November. Oh my.

So all the goodwill that the ultra-cosy Marks and Spencer Christmas TV advert had instilled in me has now evaporated. But if you're feeling less Scrooge-like than me, just click the link below.

Berlin Wall 20th anniversary celebrations

U2's gig last week may have been the most spectacular part of the celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, but I prefer the poignant symbolism that comes with tonight's toppling of hundreds of foam dominos.

The dominos, which will be placed along the former route of the wall, have been painted with messages of freedom by young people.

From 7pm British time they will be toppled, symbolising how the fall of the Wall triggered the collapse of repressive Communist regimes across Eastern Europe.

There will be live coverage of the event, plus the other celebrations taking place at the Brandenburg Gate, online on the BBC iPlayer.

You can also watch the BBC's fantastic online archive of Berlin Wall footage.

Berlin Wall - BBC video archive now live

Berlin Wall BBC video archive

With the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall fast approaching (9 November), the BBC has released a hugely impressive online video archive of broadcasts, including old Panorama and Newsnight shows.

The collection traces the history of post-war Berlin, from the Soviet blockade in 1948 to the formal reunification of Germany in 1990.

Some of the broadcasts are fascinating historical gems, especially the chilling 1961 report from Peter Woods who witnesses the boundary between West and East Berlin being sealed.

Perhaps the most extraordinary report comes from Peter Snow, presenting live from Berlin in 1989 as the Wall begins to crumble.

You can also watch live footage of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall on the BBC iPlayer.
