Edward Woodward RIP - watch The Wicker Man trailer

Just heard the very sad news that Edward Woodward has died, aged 79. He had been suffering from various illnesses, including pneumonia.
Ever since I saw him in the classic 1973 film The Wicker Man, he has been one of my favourite actors (I liked The Equalizer, too).
I've just watched the trailer for The Wicker Man (see link below), and been instantly reminded of its unforgettable sense of horror, mystery and weirdness.
But without Woodward's magnificent performance as the strictly religious Sergeant Howie, the movie's oddness would have nothing to contrast with. It's that tension that makes the film so brilliantly disturbing.
His reaction at the end of the film, when he discovers his fate, has to be one of the best scary moments in cinema history.
So Edward Woodward - RIP. Let's hope they show The Wicker Man on TV soon as a tribute.

If you've been wondering why cyber-criminals have been exploiting the search terms Emma Stone naked and Emma Stone nude, it's because the film in which she stars, Zombieland, has been such a huge hit in America.
Woody Harrelson also stars in the zombie comedy, which follows four survivors of a zombie apocalypse as they battle across America armed with chainsaws and shotguns.
I've not seen it yet, but the clips on the official site make it look like a riot. Definitely looks like it could be as enjoyably gory as Shaun of the Dead. Click the link below to watch the clips, including age-restricted footage for the over-18s.

Another year, another Saw film.
We're up to number six now in the series, which stars Tobin Bell as the sadistic, puzzle-setting, whisper-voiced psycho.
If you want to watch a clip from the movie, out in UK cinemas on 23 October, just solve the puzzle at the link below.
Don't worry - the puzzle is surprisingly tame. It doesn't involve you sacrificing a limb or drinking a vial of acid - or anything else that you may have seen in the previous five Saw films.
It's just a simple jigsaw. Phew.
If you're a big fan of the films, why not enter our Saw VI Goodie Bag competition, which contains Goreologies (including Saws I-V on DVD), Saw VI t-shirts, bloody putty and bloody mouse mats.

The excellent Fox Searchlight site has some fascinating videos going behind the scenes of Wes Anderson's new film, Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is released in the UK on 23 October.
You can watch how the stop-motion animation worked, discover what inspired Anderson to make the film and hear what Felicity Dahl thinks her late husband Roald - the book's author - would have made of the adaptation.
You can even see sketches Dahl made when writing the book.
We think he'd have loved the final product. The clips certainly look great. And George Clooney is just perfect as Mr. Fox - not to mention Bill Murray as Badger.
It's a star-studded affair. Meryl Streep is Mrs. Fox, while Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and Willem Defoe also provide voices.
