On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me...the same present as last year

As an angst-ridden adolescent, there's nothing like Christmas for confirming that Nobody Understands You. In childhood, I had briefly chuckled at Milligan's nonsense poems for kids, but that was where we began and ended.


Nevertheless, for years afterwards, there would always be at least one more blasted Milligan book under that tree.


"What shall we get Michael? He only likes punk rock."
"Better bung him some Spike Milligan."


I would dolefully stack this year's shiny new "Puckoon" (http://www.puckoon.co.uk) next to last year's still shiny - and unread - "Puckoon", luxuriating once more in glorious teenage self-pity.
