BBC PODCAST: THE WORLD
The BBC's exceptional World Service site boasts four podcasts. Every Tuesday you can hear the Health bulletin, which examines medical and public health issues, while on Fridays you can hear the latest Technology podcast. More frequent are the Global Hit and Geo Quiz podcasts – the former is a daily round-up of global music, while the latter a twice-weekly geography quiz.
QUIZ PODCAST: POD QUIZ
Every edition of this weekly 20-question quiz podcast has a music section, so you'll have an advantage if you know your Madonnas from your Mozarts. Other categories challenge you on more obscure trivia, such as waterfalls, coins, cartoon characters and famous children.
TRAVEL PODCAST: THE AMATEUR TRAVELLER
The travel stories in this excellent weekly podcast will get anyone reaching for the passport and backpack. Recent episodes have featured tales of mountain gorillas in Rwanda, volcanoes in Ecuador and bike tours in Canada and Tuscany.
FILM PODCAST: FILMSPOTTING

HISTORY PODCAST: HISTORY ON AIR
The history buff presenting this podcast doesn't quite have the charisma of Simon Schama or David Starkey, but his bulletins are still excellent accounts of important historical events.
