CyberLink DVD Suite 7 Ultra

If you’ve got a DVD or Blu-ray burner, then CyberLink’s software can help you get the most out of it. This suite collects a vast swathe of CyberLink software together under a single banner and offers it at an excellent bundled price.

Highlights include MediaShow (reviewed in its own right back in Issue 185), one of the PC’s best media-organising programs, and video editor PowerDirector. The package also includes a broad selection of tools for burning discs.

There are, however, some lowlights too. Image editor PhotoNow is easy to use but very basic. You can achieve more using the aforementioned MediaShow, which makes PhotoNow’s inclusion something of a mystery.

If you haven’t got Blu-ray on your PC, you could opt for the cheaper Centra version of the suite but by doing so you’ll also lose a selection of other features, including the ability to export movies direct to an iPod.
