MediaMonkey uses a tree structure for organising files, with a plus button next to an option opening a list of sub folders. This gets unwieldy if you’re browsing through a lot of folders and, because it doesn’t close lists behind you as you leave, the onus is on you to tidy as you go – not what you want to think about when you’re browsing music.

It offers an alternative to iTunes for iPod owners because it synchronises with Apple’s player using a plug-in, but we can’t think why you’d really want this unless you’re spectacularly fed up with Apple’s option.
