Developed using Mozilla’s Firefox browser, Songbird is aiming its sights at web-savvy music fans. The interface owes a lot to iTunes, though it doesn’t feature cover art without a plug-in, let alone Cover Flow. Other Firefox elements are present, including tabs and web browsing. The emphasis is on using the web to discover new music, and in this respect it’s better co-ordinated than Winamp’s browser add-on.

The software is still being developed, but as a web-based option, it’s shaping up to be an interesting product.
