Google Talk Beta

Adopting a no-frills approach, Google Talk is as basic as instant messengers come. It seamlessly combines text and voice messaging, talk to your friends by typing or microphone.

Adopting a no-frills approach, Google Talk is as basic as instant messengers come. It seamlessly combines text and voice messaging, so you can talk to your friends – who must have a Google Mail account – either by typing or using a microphone. Features include the ability to transfer files, record voicemail messages for offline contacts and display the song you’re currently listening to in iTunes. However, the program still has some way to go to catch up with its big-name rivals; interoperability with at least one of them would be a start.
