IrfanView isn’t the most impressive looking program, and as its name suggests, one of its key functions is simply to let you view images. However, it offers much more; including rotation, cropping and resizing, red-eye reduction and colour enhancement options. Images can also be sharpened, there is a range of special effects and the colour swap feature allows some creativity. But the program really comes into its own for batch processing. When preparing images for use on a website, for example, you can apply the same special effects, cropping settings and colour adjustments instantly, while simultaneously resizing and renaming files. If you don’t need advanced options, there is no better program for working with large numbers of images, making IrfanView a useful complement to your main image editor.
