Kerio Personal Firewall 4

Kerio Personal Firewall 4 is completely free for home users. Detecting intrusions, controlling which software is allowed access to the internet and updating itself automatically.

Kerio Personal Firewall 4 is completely free for non-commercial home users. Although you’re missing out on some of the features of the paid-for version, which includes blockers for pop-ups, scripts and cookies, these aren’t core firewall features and you can always find them elsewhere. The free version still does the important things though, like detecting intrusions, controlling which software is allowed access to the internet and updating itself automatically.

In use, Kerio is a good-looking and easy-to-operate firewall that allows continuous tweaking and adjustment, though it’s also capable of running on automatic in the background. It sailed confidently through the extensive and exhaustive Shields Up and Hackerwatch tests, and performed faultlessly, repelling all the attacks mounted against it without burdening us with too much information in the form of endless alerts and warnings. If for any reason you’d rather not install ZoneAlarm, then downloading the 7.5MB Kerio Personal Firewall 4 will also provide you with an effective free firewall protection application.
