Of the six feed readers reviewed, web-based service Bloglines is the easiest to use. It’s simple to get to grips with almost every aspect of the interface because Bloglines’ first page outlines your options in great detail.

For starters, it’s extremely simple to add a feed – just type the name of a website into the Search box and a list of available feeds from that site is displayed. There’s also a comprehensive collection of user-recommended news links to help you find the best feeds – check out the list of the 1,000 most popular sites.

Bloglines’ best feature lets you add stories and blogs on a particular subject. Just enter a search term and, if a blog entry matches that subject, it’ll be listed.

Throw in a Favourites button that quickly adds new feeds, along with the ability to save the best bits for later reading, and Bloglines has everything you need to stay on top of your net news.
