Something of an unknown name when compared to a giant like Thunderbird, i.Scribe is the free version of the InScribe email software, the only difference being that a single email account can be configured along with five content filters. Using a familiar Bayesian filter, spam detection improves over time. A calendar for monitoring appointments is a welcome inclusion, and support for regular or recurring events means that it is a surprisingly flexible tool.

A key advantage for people who are constantly on the move is that i.Scribe does not need to be installed – it can be run from a USB memory drive and be used on any computer without the need for additional configuration. The program is small and runs very quickly, making it ideal for older computers as well.
