PeaZip

Review Date : Thu, 23 Oct 2008

Author : Mark Wilson

PeaZip can open a wide range of compressed formats and is capable of producing more than 10 varieties of compressed file.

PeaZip is a little known archiving tool, but it has a great deal to offer. It can open a wide range of compressed formats and is capable of producing more than 10 varieties of compressed file. The program interface is initially a little confusing but it’s highly customisable and everything soon becomes clearer as you get used to it. Archives can be split into a variety of pre-defined or custom-made sizes and frequently used locations can be bookmarked for easy access. Archives can be created manually or by simply dropping files on the interface, allowing for quick and easy operation. There is also a portable version of the program available, which can be run from a USB drive without the need for installation – ideal for working with file compression on the move.
