With support for a staggering 36 compressed file formats, ALZip gets off to a great start. The rather cutesy interface is simple to use and doesn’t suffer from the confusion brought about by the likes of PeaZip (see right). There are also context menu entries that let you email files or create standard or self-extracting archives without explicitly launching the software. The browser view used when archives are opened in the program makes it easy to view file contents and the simple approach to getting things done means that ALZip is suitable even for people who normally feel uncomfortable with archiving. One slight disappointment with the program is the fact that it features advertisements for software from the same company, though this is a small price to be paid for free software.
