CCleaner 2.21

CCleaner 2.21 will remove all traces of unwanted applications from your PC

This thorough, and free, unistaller really is the cream of the crop.

As with every program reviewed here, CCleaner aspires to be more than a plain old uninstaller tool. Not only will it remove any unwanted program you train its sights on, but it will also spring clean all manner of other electronic junk that builds up during everyday PC use.

Most of the housekeeping that CCleaner does – erasing temporary internet files, emptying the Recycle Bin and so forth – can be easily achieved in Windows without any additional software. But CCleaner lets you manage all these cleaning processes in one place and makes it easy to execute them all together.
In addition to all this, CCleaner has an effective application-uninstaller component and a Registry cleaner. The latter usefully offers to back up the Registry before making changes (very sensible), while the latter just works, quickly and simply.

However, CCleaner lacks detailed installation logging, so there’s potential for unknown and unnoticed files to be left on the hard disk. This is certainly a pity but considering CCleaner is free, it’s hard to complain.
