System Mechanic scans your computer (either quick or thorough) to tell you how fragmented your disk is, and how many unnecessary start-up files and Registry problems it’s found. You then choose which items you want it to fix.

But it’s a bit vague with its diagosis and the tools are spread around the interface, often appearing in more than one place which, depending on how you look at it, is either handy or confusing.

There’s a great scheduling service, so you can set the software to do its thing then forget about it. Every so often it’ll scan your PC and send you an email report to tell you how it’s getting on.
