Currently only available for Internet Explorer, this plug-in adds traffic-light coloured icons to the start of all search results. It also highlights each result link in the same shade so you can’t possibly miss a site that’s been flagged as red. Rather confusingly, there are three variations for yellow sites – Undesirable Content, Trusted (by you) or Suspicious – and each one is defined by a different icon.

The program adds a colour-changing button to your browser so you can see how safe the current site is. With this, you can find out more about the site’s rating, mark it as trusted or check for viruses using Trend Micro’s online scanner. You can also access the options from here and choose which categories TrendProtect should filter out. Ultimately, though, the lack of Firefox support pushes it into third place.
