Wordpress has gained a solid reputation for features and reliability and it’s easy to see why: the interface is very clean and easy to use.
There is a good selection of themes to choose from, so you can quickly find one to complement your site’s topic. You can customise this in several ways, including adding an image to your header and dragging and dropping additional components – widgets – to the sidebar. These include a calendar, links to del.icio.us, Flickr and Meebo, and a search facility. Changes are made instantly, so you can play around and see what looks best.
Posts can be categorised and tagged, so visitors can view the entries which most interest them, and also find users with similar interests. Blogs can be made public or private and you can decide whether you want search engines to be able to index your content.
Other cool features include autosaving – so part-written posts won’t get lost if your computer crashes – and Akismet spam protection, which prevents spammers from leaving comments.
