McAfee has a good reputation stretching back several years. It has failed only two out of the last 20 Virus Bulletin tests (a good performance) and the chances of it letting your computer become infected by malware are slim. A single computer scan will find and remove various threats including viruses, spyware, adware, keyloggers and other undesirables. System guards prevent unauthorised changes to Windows.
Web filtering is included along with parental controls and a back-up utility that saves files to CD/DVD or USB disks, while the anti-spam features keep your Inbox free of junk email. The firewall does a good job of blocking hack attacks and preventing rogue software from accessing the internet, while a handy password vault stores website login details. In some ways McAfee is better than Norton, but it’s the latter’s unbroken virus detection record that gives it the edge.
