The first thing you’ll notice about the Look 312P is that its name doesn’t really suit it. Rover or Fido might have been more appropriate – the Look 312P webcam doesn’t have a flashy designer exterior – it’s hidden inside a toy dog. The unit isn’t as inflexible as this makes it sound though, as its bendy skeleton can be shaped to your needs.

It features a maximum resolution of 640 by 480 pixels, whether you’re taking snaps or video. It also doesn’t include the software to capture a video with sound, despite the inclusion of a microphone, though using it through an instant messenger tied the sound and video options together seamlessly.

When it comes down to it, it’s a bit of a novelty item. But it’s cheap, it’s cheerful, a pound of your purchase will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind, and it’s bound to be a hit with anyone who thinks computer gadgets just aren’t cute and fluffy enough.
