ClickFree Transformer

Web User looks at a cable that turns any USB hard disk into an easy to use back-up device.

Clickfree sells hard disks that you can use to back up the contents of your computer with the minimum of bother. If you already have a hard disk, however, the thought of buying another one just to get Clickfree’s streamlined software may not appeal. This is where the Clickfree Transformer comes in, which effectively turns an existing USB hard disk into a handy back-up device.

Although it looks like nothing more than a cable, it’s got the Clickfree software squirrelled away in hidden storage at the thick end of the device. Plug the cable into your computer and slot a hard disk into that, and the easy-to-use software kicks in. You can choose what you want to back up, either specific folders, types of files or both, and the software starts backing up your hard disk in the background.

This is ideal for anyone with a spare USB hard disk looking for a purpose. It’s quite pricey for a cable, albeit one with software installed, but it’s significantly cheaper than paying for a new disk if you already have one lying around.
