This external hard disk from Philips is the most straightforward of devices. A simple USB 2.0 connection means that Windows XP users can plug the disk straight into their computers and start saving. While its 160GB capacity is starting to look a little light, especially for a disk that doesn’t have any extra features, the pricing is spot on. This makes a great balance between capacity and value for money as long as you’re not in the market for spending a lot more on a seemingly endless supply of disk space.

Basic back-up functions are provided using a natty piece of Nero software, that works in conjunction with the disk’s back-up button, reducing your regular back-up nightmare to a handy one-button process. It’s fast, easy to use, stylish and offers a very handy way for heavy data users to store their files.
