Looking to the budget end of the scale doesn’t necessarily mean downgrading too far on quality, as this Epson model demonstrates. Its features are fairly basic when compared to some of its rivals but include the most important things, with memory card slots and PictBridge for getting a quick print from your digital camera.
It lacks the finesse of some of its rivals in the control of the printer and scanner on the device itself, and its four-colour printing left some of our subtle test photos looking a little dark. Those on a budget may be able to get better results by further tweaking its settings.
If you’re prepared to sacrifice a little to get a very keen price, this printer has most of the important things covered – you may just have to work a little harder to get the most out of it.
