One of the big positives of the Advent is also one of its minus points. It comes with lots of free software installed, including Microsoft Works (an office suite that’s useful for when you’re out and about) and PC World’s Tech Guys launcher, which is a handy mean of finding your way around this and other pre-installed software. On the downside, all this software installed at launch had an impact on the performance of the unit when compared to its cleaner rivals. Balance is crucial with these compact models and we felt that the Advent tipped too far the wrong way.
