The MSI Wind was the first netbook to come equipped with Intel's Atom processor – now every model in this test is fitted with it. MSI is also credited with offering rebadged models to Advent and Medion and these two units in our test appear identical to MSI's model except for the colour of the plastic chassis. However, we're wondering if MSI is keeping some of its special sauce to itself, as battery life and performance speed were superior to Advent's and Medion's in our tests.
Our biggest complaint is with the keyboard – the comma, full stop and slash buttons have all been squashed, making them hard to hit. It's true that other keys have also been shrunk to fit the compact space, but with two of these three keys especially useful for typing web addresses, they should not have been compromised.
Beyond such shortcomings, the MSI Wind offers decent performance and comes at a reasonable price, making it a good-value proposition for anyone looking to buy a Windows PC that doesn't break the £300 barrier.
