NEC-Mitsubishi MultiSync LCD1770NX

Review Date : Thu, 27 Apr 2006

This NEC MultiSync model forgoes any relatively useless additions like speakers, leaving an elegant looking screen with a minimalist silver surround.

This NEC MultiSync model forgoes any relatively useless additions like speakers, leaving an elegant looking screen with a minimalist silver surround. Its cables dangle from the back but can be twisted back on themselves and slung into a hidden compartment on the back of the stand, then trailed out of the bottom to be snuck down the back of your desk.

The contrast on darker screens wasn’t quite as good as its rivals, with very dark shades of black merging into one in our tests, though only at the very end of the scale. There’s no issue with clarity though, with pictures proving as sharp as you could want.

Verdict

This is a stylish monitor that suffers a little on the darkest screens, which might affect its performance for hardcore gamers, but for most other tasks it’s a neat and tidy option.
