Need more HDMI sockets on your TV? Web User has the solution...
It’s not easy to get excited about a product that defines itself as a switch. However, if you’ve purchased an HD-ready TV at any point in the last few years, this simple device should appeal, because you probably don’t have enough HDMI sockets to cater for all your HD-capable equipment.
Most early HD-ready TVs came with just one HDMI socket – the simple digital interface that carries both video and audio signals at high quality from the various boxes that sit under your TV – replacing things like SCART, Component and Composite video. However, if you’ve got a satellite box, a games console or two, a Blu-ray DVD player and maybe even something for streaming videos and the like from your PC, even those TVs that are generously equipped with three HDMI sockets are going to leave you short sooner or later.
So enter this humble switch. Plug it into the mains, use the supplied HDMI cable to connect to one of the HDMI sockets on your TV, then plug up to three HDMI devices into it. A three-button remote control lets you switch between the three inputs depending on which piece of equipment you’re using. Simple, good value and effective.
