Belkin N1 Vision

Review Date : Thu, 25 Sep 2008

In stark contrast to its SMC rival, the Belkin model has a top-of-the-range price, which is fair enough because it outclasses the competition with its superior features.

In stark contrast to its SMC rival, the Belkin model has a top-of-the-range price, which is fair enough because it outclasses the competition with its superior features. Chief of these is its informative screen – it’s the first time we’ve seen a device of this kind with anything more sophisticated than a bunch of flashing lights – which makes general problem solving much simpler. The screen offers a range of options, from a simple clock through to information on which devices are connected (great if you think someone’s stealing your bandwidth), to how fast your connection is working (so you can check up on your ISP’s speed promises). Performance-wise it was second only to the BT Home Hub, so is a worthy investment if you want to balance A-list looks and features with first-class performance.
