Solwise PL-85PE 85Mbps Ethernet Homeplug Adapter

If you’re after a pair of adapters with a slightly more technical set-up procedure, you could save money...
The software for connecting two Solwise devices is a bit rough around the edges, especially when compared to rival Devolo. It’s not as obvious how to set up your network and the only software you get is an application to help configure and troubleshoot your devices, which isn’t particularly user-friendly.
However, the money saved from developing software to add on has been put to good use in terms of keeping the price down, making Solwise’s adapters an absolute bargain. If you’re after a pair of adapters and are willing to muck in and fiddle about with a slightly more technical set-up procedure, you could save yourself almost £60 on the price of the Devolo Starter Kit, which is nothing to be sniffed at.
Verdict
Performance wise there’s nothing in it – our tests showed that how close you get to 85Mbps will have more to do with the distances between your devices and the quality of your wiring than which company supplied the plugs in the first place, with devices from different companies offering negligible differences in performance.
