This media player is designed and manufactured right here in the UK but, unfortunately, patriotic pride ends there. It has a thick, bulky casing and a non-standard headphone socket...

At 3.3in across the diagonal, this screen is slightly smaller than the iPod Touch’s, though it’s the same width. However, the 16:9 screen ratio will show off your movies very nicely.

For a player of such diminutive size, this miniature marvel packs quite a punch. The screen measures a petite 2.5in and the unit as a whole isn’t much bigger.

Compared to our award-winners, the Philips GoGear Opus is rather lacking because it isn’t a touchscreen device. The one advantage, however, is price.
