This eight-inch Hannspree digital photo frame lets you easily display photos sitting idle on your computer. Physically, the photo frame is a little underwhelming – a standard black-edged rectangle adorned with a sprinkling of glitter. It comes with a second replaceable frame but ithis is also a dark colour (purple), so it’s unlikely that you’d bother changing.
Photos are displayed in 800 x 480 resolution, which leaves a gap on either side of your photo. You can also show Motion JPEG movies. Your photo frame will automatically switch between landscape and portrait view, depending on how you position it. There’s also a wall mount, but you’ll need to invest in a longer power cable if you decide to make use of this.
To operate the controls, you can use either the remote control or the buttons located on the inside top of the frame. The buttons feel a little clunky but there are only six of them to master.
There’s 256MB of internal memory, with the usual slots for external memory cards such as Secure Digital, Memory Stick, Compact Flash and xD, and you can temporarily hook it up to your PC via USB.
Feature-wise, the Hannspree packs quite a bit in – there’s a clock, timer, alarm and calendar, and you can upload music to be played during slideshows. The sound is surprisingly good, considering the speakers are only 1.5-Watt.
The picture quality is good and, with its competitive price and ample features, the Hannspree is a neat option if you’re thinking about showing off your snaps.
