The money-is-no-object brigade won’t find a finer digital photo frame than this glossy 10in object of desire. Its gorgeous screen brought out the best in our images – the 800 x 600 resolution isn’t a perfect fit for photo-sized images but it’s not far off – while the quality brought out the colours and depth of photos to near perfection. The deep, rich black of the screen doesn’t absolutely match the black of the surrounding frame but it’s very close.

As you’d expect from Sony, the frame has an intelligently laid out remote control, as well as buttons on the back. The frame knows which way up you’ve put it – portrait or landscape – and will orient your photos accordingly.

There’s 256MB of internal memory, with slots for Secure Digital, Memory Stick, Compact Flash and xD cards, or you can temporarily hook it up to your PC via USB.

There are things this photo frame doesn’t do, such as audio or video, but such embellishements may seem frivolous and this is a serious frame for a serious price.
