Nikon Coolpix S200

If you’re shopping around for a bit of a bargain, then the sub-£200 mark is probably where you ought to be looking for the ultimate balance between features and price.
If you’re shopping around for a bit of a bargain, then the sub-£200 mark is probably where you ought to be looking for the ultimate balance between features and price. This Nikon model has most of the basic functions of its rival cameras for a few pounds less, including a very compact body, a 7-megapixel camera and a 3x optical zoom. The camera’s features are decent too, with an automatic process for removing red-eye and a handy anti-shake stabilisation function.
So how come it’s got the Bronze Award? Well, we weren’t quite so impressed with its colour reproduction and we thought the flash left our indoor subjects looking a smidgen darker than we’d like. The macro function is also less impressive than its rivals. These are minor issues, though, that would be difficult to spot if it wasn’t lined up against such illustrious competition.
If you’re looking for a keenly priced camera and don’t mind sacrificing a little quality to get it, this is a well-priced contender.
