Digital radios come in all manner of shapes and sizes, but many are let down by a flimsy, plasticky build quality. This certainly isn't the case with the Vita Audio R2, which boasts a sturdy but stylish walnut wood veneer, a material apparently renowned for its excellent sound properties.
That's just as well as the device offers a choice of audio options, including both DAB and FM tuners and the ability to connect your iPod or other MP3 player and pump out tunes through the 20-watt speakers with 3D-surround.
Although at the premium end of the market in terms of price, the R2 has the added advantages of a built-in alarm with sleep and snooze functions and a lightweight remote control that lets you operate all its main functions from the comfort of your chair or bed.
Priced at £219, an ivory version is also available for £249. See Vita Audio for more information.
