With ever expanding hard disks in PCs and bulging photo, video and music collections, creating a complete backup of all your precious files can become a bit of a headache. Philips is poised to make the task simpler with its SPD5130 1TB drive - that's 1,000GB of storage space to play with, enough for one million photos, 250,000 songs or six weeks of uncompressed video.
It's equipped with an eSATA interface, which is six times faster than USB 2.0 - when you're shifting such large amounts of data around you'll appreciate the speed hike. It also comes with a standard USB 2.0 connection, so you can still use it on older PCs, albeit it at a much lower speed.
It features intelligent power management, so it will start up and shut down along with your PC and there's a one-click button for simple file backup.
The SPD5130 is available now for £299.99, see Philips for more information.
