Freesat - a free digital satellite service - will be launching in the next few weeks, but you'll need to supply your own equipment to view it. If you've already got a satellite dish, however, you could use Hauppauge's WinTV Nova-S USB2 to tune into the broadcasts via your PC.
The new service is backed by the BBC and ITV and will offer around 80 channels. The signal will be broadcast from the same satellite Sky uses, so if you've already got a dish chances are it'll be compatible.
The WinTV box connects to your PC via USB, so it's easy to install and comes bundled with software for viewing the broadcasts and also an EPG (electronic programme guide) application so you can see what's on and also schedule recordings.
The WinTV Nova-S USB2 is available now for £79.99, see Hauppauge for further details.
