No longer content with becoming merely cheaper and sharper, digital cameras are constantly striving to be thinner and cleverer than their rivals.

Pentax's latest snapper, the 19mm-deep Optio T30, claims to be one of the slimmest to feature a 3in LCD monitor, which boasts a 170-degree viewing angle and touch-screen functionality. Not only does this let you navigate and select menu options with a quick swipe of your finger, it also allows you to draw directly onto shots with the supplied stylus pen, adding notes and doodles to your images. With a 7.1-megapixel resolution, the T30 ensures high quality photos, aided by special features such digital shake reduction and automatic face recognition.

The camera includes 19.9MB of internal memory (upgradable with an SD or SDHC card), sports a 3x optical zoom, and provides 16 scene modes for different shooting conditions. Due out next month for £199.99, see Pentax Imaging for full specifications.
