Nikon Coolpix P5100

Nikon Coolpix P5100

Double figure megapixel counts are no longer the preserve of expensive digital SLR cameras and Nikon's new Coolpix P5100 boasts a massive 12.1 megapixel sensor, capable of taking pictures that stretch to 4,000 x 3,000 pixels.

It also offers a high sensitivity ISO 3200 setting, so you can take snaps in low light without having to resort to using the flash, and a vibration reduction system to keep shots crisp and blur free.

There's only 52MB of internal memory, which won't go that far if you're shooting at the maximum resolution, but there's a high capacity SD card slot, so expansion won't be a problem. The P5100 is also compatible with a range of Nikon lenses, so you're not just stuck with the one it comes bundled with.

The Coolpix 5100 is available now for £299.99, see Nikon for more information.
