Flip Ultra HD camcorder

For a quick and easy way to capture high definition video, the Flip Ultra HD is ideal.

It packs 8GB of internal memory, which is enough space to store up to two hours of 720p footage. Once you've finished shooting, getting the material onto your PC couldn't be simpler - just fold out the built in USB port and plug it straight in.

It's powered by a rechargeable AA battery pack, so if you run out of juice you can pop in some regular batteries and carry on filming.

Genius G-Shot HD520

Genius' HD offering, a pistol grip point-and-shoot camera, also has the added ability of being able to capture 11-megapixel still photographs.

The Genius features a flip-out 2.5 inch LCD screen which can rotate 270 degrees, a 5x digital zoom and and a HDMI slot and cable bundled.

Built in memory is a meagre 32MB, but the Genius accepts SDHC cards. The G-Shot shoots in 720p and can also be used as a portable media player, recording voices and listening to music.

Prices start from £100.

Creative Vado HD

Creative joins the gamut of pocket-sized camcorders capable of shooting in HD with its nifty little Vado HD.

While Kodak, Flip Video and now Creative all offer HD models, it's worth noting that cameras of this size are never going to offer the same HD experince that bigger more expensive models offer, but for under £200 they offer a fun and easy way to get footage online and quickly.

The Vado HD features a 2x zoom, a 2-inch anti-glare LCD screen and a mini HDMI connector for hooking up to HD televisions.

Best of all however, the Vado HD comes with 8GB of memory giving you up to four hours of recording time. Pricing starts from £159.

Sanyo Xacti CG10

Sanyo's Xacti camera combines two functions, a high definition camcorder as well as a high resolution digital camera, which should excite gadget fans.

The CG10 pistol grip camera will comfortably fit in your pocket. On the specs side it has a generous fold out view finder, 76mm (nearly 3-inches), a 10 megapixel camera and a 5x optical zoom.

The 'dual camera' is a hard one to pull off, but Sanyo make a better attempt than most and it's easy and fun to use. Comes in white or black and typically costs £220.
