JVC Picsio GC-FM1 camcorder

JVC Picsio GC-FM1

Apple may be fighting off the threat of Flip by building camcorder functionality into the iPod nano, but JVC is tackling the cheap and cheerful camcorder maker head on.

The Picsio GC-FM1 can shoot video at full HD 1080p resolution and even includes image stabilisation technology to help keep on screen wobbles to a minimum.

In addition to HD video it can also shoot still images up to 8-megapixel and you needn't worry about running out of storage as the SD card slot makes it easy to slip in more.

The Picsio GC-FM1 will be available soon, see JVC for further details.

Muvi Micro DV Cam

If you're pushed for luggage space this holiday, Muvi's Micro DV Cam will occupy hardly any of your baggage allowance as it measures just 55x20x16mm.

It can shoot 640x480 resolution video at 30 frames per seconds and record it to microSD card. It can also double as a stills camera too, capable of taking snaps up to 2megapixel in size.

The sound activated record feature is perfect for wannabe espionage agents - pop it in your top pocket and it'll automatically start filming when it hears a sound.

The Muvi Micro DV Cam is available now for £79.99 from I Want One Of Those.

The DA900C from August International isn't just a portable 9in TV - it's also a Freeview recorder as well.

Simply plug in a USB memory stick or external drive and it'll record digital programmes that you can watch back later. In addition to your own recordings, it can also playback other audio and video files too.

If that's not enough, you can also hook it up to larger TV, so you can enjoy its output on the big screen.

The DA900C is available now for £139.95, see August International for more information.

Kodak Zi8 camcorder

Kodak's latest point and shoot camcorder may be small, but the footage it can capture is anything but with the ability to record full 1080p high definition.

The Zi8 has space for around ten hours of HD video on its internal memory, but once that's full you can easily add more thanks to the SD card slot. It also features an integrated swing out USB arm for easy upload to your PC.

In addition to video, it can take 5-megapixel still images as well.

The Zi8 will be available in September, see Kodak for further details.

Sony Handycam HDR-CX520VE camcorder

There's no need to worry about running out of tape with Sony's new solid state camcorder.

The Handycam HDR-CX520VE packs 64GB of internal memory, which is enough space for up to 25 hours of high definition footage. If that's not enough to see you through, then there's a Memory Stick slot if you need to add more.

The GPS receiver will also keep track of where you are and tag shots with your location so you know exactly where you took them.

The Handycam HDR-CX520VE will be available in August, see Sony for more information.
