As with iBackup, Xdrive can be accessed like a local hard disk using the software provided and you can transfer files from within applications. Your online space can be accessed through a web browser and your files are encrypted on the fly for extra security against snoopers.

There are no bandwidth restrictions and the largest file size available is 2.5GB, so you can basically use it as much as you want. You can invite other people to access a folder and make certain areas public, letting you choose who can access them and what permissions they have.

The range of features, the software and the browser interface are all good, making this is an excellent service. AOL members get a 50 per cent discount and, what's more, a 5GB account will be free to everyone from September.
