The Visioneer's sideways design immediately marks it out from other scanners, as does its incredible speed. The USB 2.0 interface lets you make hi-resolution scans of photos in a matter of seconds, but it's also supremely fast over a standard USB 1.1 connection. Our test scan of a Web User cover at 150dpi took a mere 15 seconds, quicker than any other scanner we've tested.
Five OneTouch buttons allow you to scan, email, print, edit and convert documents into editable text with the minimum of effort, while the software is easy to use. Image quality is reasonable, though the lack of a transparency adapter means you can't scan negatives or slides.
