This is the old man of wireless broadband routers, undergoing no major change since it won a Web User Gold award in Issue 77. However, there are some areas where its rivals have caught and surpassed its high standards.

Installation is still slick, though it uses the now old-school system of a step-by-step wizard on a CD, but the once seemingly simple web interface has been surpassed by better designed offerings. The 802.11g-compliant Wi-Fi aspect sticks to the standard 54Mbps, which might disappoint if you've got other Wi-Fi devices from US Robotics that can be boosted to 125Mbps.

These are minor niggles though and the US Robotics device has stood the test of time, proving it's still a sturdy base on which to build a network around your broadband connection.
